Hyderabad: Swiggy, on Tuesday announced the launch of “Project Next,” a new initiative designed to provide career growth opportunities for delivery partners while accelerating restaurant onboarding. This programme is a part of company’s larger initiative Swiggy Skills, which offers skilling, training, internship, and employment opportunities in its value chain.

By transitioning qualified delivery partners into the role of sales executives, the programme aims to enhance restaurant expansion across 150 growing markets and offer delivery partners a meaningful career advancement. With this programme, delivery partners will take on a new role within the company. They will be responsible for onboarding and managing company’s growing restaurant network, especially in tier 2 and tier 3 cities, offering restaurants high-quality support on the platform.

"Swiggy works with nearly 4 lakh delivery partners across India. While many value the platform for flexible earning opportunities, some aspire for more. To empower this group, we launched Project Next under our Swiggy Skills initiative. This unique program helps delivery partners transition from “blue collar” to “white collar” workers. It is heartening to see that within weeks of launch, hundreds of partners under ‘Project Next’ have already onboarded over 360 restaurants", said Rohit Kapoor, CEO, Swiggy Food Marketplace.

In the coming months, company plans to transition hundreds of delivery partners across 150 growing markets, such as Vadodara, Amritsar, Nashik, Agra, and Dharwad.

Ravindra Khati, a 27-year-old delivery partner with company is now a sales executive in Sikar, Rajasthan. “My experience as a Sales Executive at company has been incredibly rewarding, and I would love to advance my career within the company. Every day, I learn something new through my interactions with restaurant partners and senior colleagues. For the past few years, I've been trying to pursue a career as a government teacher but haven't been successful in securing a position. However, my role at Swiggy has sparked my interest in a career within the private sector, and I can now envision myself thriving in this environment."

This programme is the latest under the “Swiggy Skills” initiative announced earlier this month with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India. Under the initiative, the company will facilitate online skill development and upskilling of almost 2.4 lakh delivery partners, and the staff of their 2 lakh restaurant partners, and collaborate towards the discovery of opportunities for employment for 3,000 individuals in restaurant operations, and various aspects of retail management.
